The ad blocker uBlockOrigin has begun blocking images in project descriptions in a poor attempt to block sponsorship banners that support creators.

Modrinth strives to take an ethical approach to advertising, so please consider turning your ad blocker off on Modrinth.

@modrinth "ethical advertising" is still advertising and i dont want to see ads

i dont like the sloppy filter that ublock origin has but that'll get fixed

@i_lost_my_bagel there is no "advertising" at all. it is content the user deliberately added into their project description, same as any other image in there. it is impossible for ublock to make a filter that doesn't affect other images
@zvava Just cause the user put it there doesn't mean it isn't an advertisement
@i_lost_my_bagel @modrinth i would go a step further and posit that "ethical advertising" does not and cannot exist. the field of advertising is normalised psychological abuse which is always unethical
@x @i_lost_my_bagel @modrinth I disagree. If you look at the ads on modrinth, or in this case, the sponsor banners on mod pages, you will see that these don't contain any psychological manipulation to get people to buy a server but are instead used to show appreciation to the server hosters who monetarily support the mod developers, which is perfectly ethical imo.
