The local movie theatre was robbed of about $250 last night. The thieves took a bag of popcorn, a combo meal, and a large soft drink.
@MostlyHarmless haha!
On a serious note, be aware of the difference between price and cost. When a company reports theft, are they giving cost or price?
The price of those items may be $250 (to be consistent with the joke), but the cost of those items was probably $3. Cents for the soda, cents for the popcorn, and a few bucks for whatever the “combo meal” was.
When they report theft, I would guess they report the retail price (as “lost revenue”) rather than their cost.
