I CAAAAVED

Ran the air conditioning for half an hour; not to cool the place down so much as to dry the air out and make the fans more effective. Only dropped a degree but it wrung 10% humidity outta the air and down the drain in half an hour so we're good 👍

AC unit, where should I put the heat from my house so it doesn't hurt anyone we know or care about

Had a chap round to look at my gutters just now, waved my hand over the outside AC unit and whoo the warm and noise blasting out of that thing, went in and turned it off so we could chat (and because frankly it's done its job for today tbqh)

Still not yet culturally adapted to air conditioning, it's normal here but it feels very wrong to me to take all my house's heat and dump it outside for the poors to deal with along with some more heat just to drive the point home, it feels like sticking my arse through the window of a hospital so I don't have to smell my own farts

My leccy comes from coal and all, and that damn thing draws SO much current

Like, imagine you get up in the morning and put the kettle on, and then you just, don't turn it off again

🐰 So you're not gonna use the AC, right?
🦝 uhhhhhhhhhh
🐰 You've established that you think it's some kind of crime against humanity, so you could probably just disconnect it and sell it, right?
🦝 ...
🦝 i'll just use it a *little* bit

I'll just touch it a *little* bit

Literally why the hell does my thermostat control the AC via temperature alone

How is there not a hygrometer in these things as standard, AC units are WAY more effective at removing humidity than they are at cooling the air

Literally went from being Way Too Hot to being absolutely fine under a fan with one degree of difference but 10% less humidity, and the thermostat people want me to use temperature to decide when to run the AC, what the hell, either this is daft or I am

@ifixcoinops

Not sure why you're having trouble finding them, but #thermostats with a #humidistat that will do "off-cycle dehumidification" (i.e. run for short periods when #humidity is high even if #temperature doesn't exceed the #setpoint) are all over the place in USA/Canada. You sometimes don't find them in new construction because the contractor can save 5 bucks by putting in a "stupid" 'stat.

"Off-cycle #dehumidification" may be the search term you're looking for.
