We need water and food to survive, but it is not enough for us to depend on it alone.

When Jesus was tempted by satan, He says that man shall not lived by bread alone, but by every word of God (Luke 4:4).“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” ‭‭(John‬ ‭1‬:‭1‬ ) Reading the Bible helps us to remember that we cannot rely upon ourselves, we cannot provide for ourselves because God provides everything we need (Matthew 6:25-26)

And when Jesus was talking to the woman who was at the well. Jesus tells us that whoever drinks the water He gave shall never be thirsty again (John 4:14) and be blessed with everlasting life.

This helped me understand why we need to fast, that we have to surrender ourselves to God fully and completely, we rely on God because God knows what we need. Fasting doesn’t mean you only fast from foods, it can be from social media or anything that distracts you from getting closer to God. By surrendering yourself, you allow the Holy Spirit to work in you, to lead you to God.

PRAYER ֶָ֢⊹𐙚
Father God, I pray that you will guide me through this fast. I know God that I can’t do anything on my own, I pray that you give me strength to endure the temptations and influences that can hinder my walk with you. Father God, I will lift you above all else in my life, be the center of my heart, and lead me into your will. Father, I come to you with a humble heart today and may your will shall be fulfilled. Amen.
