@jeffowski To the extremists, being anti-queer is an inherent part of straightness. So the moment someone questions that anti-queerness, they are seen as not actually straight.
@jeffowski Proposed alt text: Screenshot of a social media post with the following "I called my mom out on her homophobia last night. We got into a huge argument and now she thinks I'm gay. Literally every-time I've called somebody out on their homophobia, they ask me am I gay. You don't have to be a part of the community to call out bigotry. That's y'all problem now"
@jeffowski I called my "friend" out on his transphobia once. He asked me why I was so passionate about it. "Your son must be a trans," he said. My son is not, but how does that ever make a difference? I try to wear my "Protect Trans Kids" shirt every time I see this guy.
@jeffowski thats how I call my students out on their homophobia: I ask them, what im if I am gay? Is the word gay then still an acceptable swear word?
