I haven’t used Mastodon for a while. I’ve definitely missed how the Twitter scientific community has started to move away. How is this community going? Any tips or tricks?
@DocEd Have people really begun leaving twitter? On the odd occasion I check in, I see mostly rhetorical same people I loved to interact with continuing discussions there.
@load_dependent a lot of the Rstat community seem to have moved away. The echo chamber has gotten a lot worse. It’s quite hard to break out of UK centric issues (the algo is super pushy). And while they are important issues, I do like to talk about other things from time to time!!
@DocEd Yeah, I was specifically tlaking about the critical care community. Many Rstats folks are active on bluesky, but very few of those I used to interact with within critical care. And even fewer here.

@load_dependent @DocEd

I’d recommend following hashtags which you can do here … in particular #rstats is very active on Mastodon which seems to be the main destination for our community (great to see you Ed!, I log into Twitter only when needed these days)

@louisaslett @DocEd same here, I check in for dms once a month or so. I am starting to see much appreciated statistics on bluesky too but the medical side (cardiology and critical care) seems stuck in twitter.
