A mask ban will ban me completely from indoor public life.

I’ve already been pushed most of the way out of society. I cannot believe people are legislating pushing people like me all the way out. Oh, wait, yes I can. This is what the last 2.8 years have been like. Watching everyone around me deciding one by one they would rather banish me from society than be even the slightest bit inconvenienced. Letting me know their feelings are far more important than my life.

Mask bans will not stop crime. Mask bans will not stop protests. What mask bans will do is put people's health at greater risk, and make society less accessible.

@[email protected] Called & left message: No mask ban, please. Masks are helping keep school bus drivers healthy, while lots of kids coming aboard are coughing, sneezing, and having all kinds of respiratory issues but get sent to school anyway. Many drivers and attendants who don’t mask up are getting ill, paying a high price for “freedom.” But what about our freedom of choice—to do the smart thing?

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul says she is considering a ban on face masks in the New York City subway system, following what she described as concerns over people shielding their identities while committing antisemitic acts. Hochul told reporters Thursday that what the policy would look like is not exactly clear but it would contain exemptions for health, cultural or religious reasons. She said she was in talks with lawmakers on crafting a bill. Hochul acknowledged that reinstating a ban would be complicated, since face coverings have become common on subways and elsewhere

@cferdinandi @cwilcox808 Exactly. I take the subway only when I have to. It’s always for medical appointments. And I always wear an N95. No, Gov, I’m not going to rob the train. I can’t even stand while riding.

@jensimmons I don’t even remember anyone arguing against medical masks before the pandemic. The only arguments I remember were people wearing masks because of all of the surveillance cameras and people saying “ha, do it!” Like the guy that wore the monkey mask while driving past tolls. Now the loudest voices are on the other side because they got hyped up over some insane arguments about the state controlling them during the pandemic, so they want to cede more control.
