@howler0502 @MatthewTitus88 @analgesicsleep @otheorange_tag @silverseasun @LK_877 @JanineFromPgh I find the rehearsal MORE engrossing than a finished performance -- and may join Carnegie Hall as a Friend ($100/yr, tax deductible incl. tix to 4 rehearsals = $25/performance = BARGAIN!)

The rehearsal program's "etiquette tips" told us NOT to applaud so as not to use up precious rehearsal time. ๐Ÿคจ

Everyone applauded anyway & the performers seemed to enjoy the applause, so THERE, program writer! ๐Ÿ˜œ

@howler0502 @MatthewTitus88 @analgesicsleep @silverseasun @LK_877 @JanineFromPgh Also, I really enjoyed seeing the musicians s _individuals_ in their casual attire (Birkenstocks are a fashion travesty at any time though ๐Ÿ˜†)

@otheorange_tag - QUESTION 1๏ธโƒฃ: position of the concertmaster switched between different musical pieces?!? (see Mr. Turquoise Shirt) I did not know this happened! I thought seating positions were forever ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ #WhatDoIKnow?

@otheorange_tag QUESTION 2๏ธโƒฃ: The MET Orchestra has all of the double bass players on the far LEFT, and tympani on the far RIGHT -- despite all of the charts I find online.

And when the Chicago Symphony Orchestra played one of today's pieces they were arranged with the basses on the far right.

#SymSat mental meltdown happening here!๐Ÿคฃ

@SesameSquirrel @howler0502 @MatthewTitus88 @analgesicsleep @silverseasun @LK_877 @JanineFromPgh There r @ least 2 major placements of instruments. One is the graphic shown, the other, the 2nd violins are opposite the 1st violins and the cellos are next to the 1sts, and the double basses are behind the cellos. There is some music that loses stereo effects if it isn't played in the period proportionate setup. Not usually a big thing. KCO does it the way shown +/- SSO the other way. #SymSat
