I’ve got such lousy internet here in Novi Grad I can’t get the video uploaded. Will try again if/when it’s better later! #CrossBorderRail
Bahnstrecke Novi Grad–Knin – Wikipedia

I’ve been in areas without internet all day. So little live tooting. More posts once I’m into Croatia shortly.

This is the #CrossBorderRail Lokunski Most - the first border bridge south of Bihać. Bosnia left, Croatia right. No trains across it since 2016, no regular service for c. 20 years. But an amazing spot on an amazing line.

Damn I’m leaving a trail of internet destruction across the Balkans. I’m now in Zagreb. Have days worth of files to sync with the cloud and 💥I’ve already crashed the router… #CrossBorderRail
@jon it seems you need good infrastructure for the traffic...
@jon
I think we have become so accustomed to having lots of high speed internet, we no longer think about what it must be like for people living in places where this is not the case.THe economic implications of this are not pretty.
@jon how did you take that picture? Where were ou standing?
@poupou @jon He's got a drone. 😉
@oneiros @jon I know that this is done by drone, I would still like to know from where he launched the drone to do this picture.
@poupou @oneiros drove to spot marked arrow south of Racic. Walked to X. Drone took off there. Bridge is circle.
@poupou @jon I'm guessing it's a drone shot
@poupou on a drone 🙂
@jon I know that, but where were you standing? Just curious...
@jon Updates du eigentlich auf deine Reise die Wikipedia Artikel?
@jon In 2016 I had the chance to do this wonderful line by special train until Martin Brod. I remember tracks were in an okay-ish condition but behind Martin Brod everything should be overgrown with no interest from Croatia to re-introduce this line, although it would be the shortest connection from Zagreb to Split. Long-distance bus operators are happy with this.
@wrzlbrnft apparently there’s been a landslide since at Palučci. I’m currently going searching for it!
@jon the differences on the Wikipedia pages in local languages are … interesting & telling.
@jon We thought of going to Zadar in 2020 (before Covid). It seemed impossible to reach Zadar in one day from Zagreb, without an overnight stop in Knin.
Which seemed to be a textbook example of timetabling to drive down passenger numbers.
@vandyke4ad there aren’t trains to Zadar any more
@jon Thanks. Thought that was the case.
Some of the track in the Zadar station approach looks fairly recently ballasted, compared to “out of town”. No rolling stock of any kind visible, though - not even freight.
