After a worryingly dated hands-on with Star Wars Outlaws, Ubisoft's galactic open world feels less exciting than expected
I heard the latest preview was on Tatooine and immediately soured to the point of curdling.
I cannot express this clearly enough: Fuck Tattooine.
We’ve seen it. It has been done. Its a dessert planet with less character than Dune. We get it. Enough. Stop with the Tatooine already, we don’t need anymore tattooine.
It’s because star wars cannot exist without rehashing the same old member berries. It always boils down to empire/Jedi/force.
It was never intended as more than a setting for a fun space adventure. Now that Disney opened the floodgates on Star Wars shit that became painfully obvious again.

Wouldn't that be nice... But then again, it would be by a garbage publisher that I boycott anyway.
Maybe their plan all along was to turn us into Anakin?
Now we all hate sand.
Ubisoft
worryingly dated hands-on
less exciting than expected
It’s 2024, is there anyone genuinely stupid enough to not have expected exactly that from the start? In a world of passionately programed indi titles and fantastic strides from studios that care about their product, why is anyone taking the time to even look at Ubisoft these days, let alone fall for their scam?
Outlaws’ early gameplay feels positively ancient - not only mechanically but in execution, in its near total lack of character, flair, invention, detail, or style. In trying to describe it, the closest comparison I can draw is with Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which launched in 2011 on the PS VIta.
I think they meant dated gameplay
