I am curious about Cosmic and also a tilling manager like hyprland
Also want to try NixOS since it looks interesting. But I will main Ubuntu for a while
@yagamikyo NixOS sounds very interesting! I've had no luck trying to spin up a NixOS on Proxmox sadly, but I still want to look into it.
@gu4n yeah, NixOS VMs are weird. I tried recently in a partition and it was a relatively good experience for like 1 h.
I already use nix quite a bit for shell etc, and wit's interesting but the learning curve is quite big
Mivey@gu4n The base GNOME experience is focused on minimalism. If that doesn't work well, you can explore the great selection of extensions you can install. From Desktop Icons, to all kinds of taskbars, there's a ton of way of making the GNOME desktop look completely different, with just the click of a mouse. KDE isn't bad either, (have to) use it on my Steam Deck, but for actual desktop work, nothing beats GNOME for me.

@gu4n The suggested extensions there are pretty good. I would also want to mention "Caffeine" which allows that fullscreen apps don't trigger sleep, and it can also turn off night light for fullscreen apps, as an option. I like "Quick Close in Overview" which allows to close apps in the overview via middle click. "Night Theme Switcher" is neat if you want to switch from a light to a dark theme at night (might not be for everyone). I also enjoy "ddterm" which is a quake mode terminal
