One thing that’s interesting so far in the Cotter era -

Rick seems more content to lay back a bit and “let the music play the band” instead of cramming never-ending guitar solos down your throat.

Pardon the cliche but I’m not sure how better to phrase it at the moment. Recency bias at play, but the improv feels more full band instead of Rick forcing the band to keep up.

@chopaganda i don’t know anything about playing improvisational music but have to imagine there’s a blend of confidence and trust and goodwill that you’ve got to have with your band mates to do this. and when one of those goes awry there’s compensation or ill intent and the wankery can oscillate up quickly.
@justinbruce @chopaganda feels like Trevor is now free not being responsible for the pocket. Jeb seems more active. Love Rick laying back in the mix until it’s time to punch thru
@chopaganda spot on. I love this band but there's no question Rick has been the dominant player on most Goose jams over the years. A handful of people on the outside pick up on that quickly when I've showed them some Goose. I like what they're cooking these days
@nkLottery @chopaganda Agree and I think it has to do with Cotter being able to play faster tempos. To me the songs seem a bit faster, but will wait for some analytics person to confirm.
