I don’t ask Siri hard questions. Today I threw her a softball while driving down I-15, “What time zone is Las Vegas in?” She has no clue. These are the kind of simple problems an LLM will solve.
@manton I just asked and Siri got it right. Did you ask CarPlay? Siri gets a lot stupider when using CarPlay for some reason.
@tewha Yep, CarPlay. This is one of my gripes, that I blogged about yesterday. It should be consistent everywhere.
Manton Reece - How to rethink Siri

@manton I don’t have a HomePod, but most of the inconsistency I see with Siri is just adapting to different screens.

Except CarPlay. It’s so stupid. It can’t even play music reliably.

@tewha @manton recently, when I have asked Siri to navigate home, it has been choosing a street with the same name as my address in a completely different town.
@Izzard Yep, same problem here, but a street with very similar name in the same suburb as my home. I mean, my address is in my Contacts ffs! Used to work fine, not any more.

@tewha Me too, though she say "Pacific Time" instead of "Pacific Daylight Time" and then proceeded to say "seven o'clock, eight o'clock" as if unsure of the current time there. 😞

This was not while driving. I've also found Siri's much more limited in what she will respond to (most of the time) when connected to my car BT (no CarPlay alas). Calling people and navigating somewhere is fine but almost any other request gets no response. Never been able to determine if this is a deliberate move by Apple to reduce driver distraction or just a bug. Prior to iOS 15.x, and randomly every now and then since, she would/will answer non-navigation/non-phonecall related queries. 🤷‍♂️
