@steevc Actually, I think the Conservatives have been, umm? Far too conservative in their estimates.

@dick_turpin Well they are practiced at lying and obsessed with saying they will cut taxes, but they have to pay the bills. I don't mind paying tax as long as it is well spent. There's a load of rich people who would happily pay more, but the greedy ones have more influence with the Tories.

@steevc Did you not get a cut in National Insurance? Isn't that a form of Tax? Didn't businesses throughout the UK get financial support for nearly two years, yet Taxes haven't risen to claw that money back? For a man who accuses me of generalisations, you are the biggest generalist I know when it comes to the Tories. You love to tar them all with the same brush when the accusation isn't true.

I've not seen any case of embezzlement or taking money for honours, unlike Labour, who, it would seem, are up to their old tricks again: telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/… yes, I will agree a good amount including Boris broke the (Lockdown) law and I hold those two arseholes dancing at the Christmas party in utter contempt. Still, I have not seen evidence of this worn-out cliche of greedy Tory rich.

The days of the classic working-class miner, docker et al., have long gone, and so is the "Toff" Conservative. Remind me again: who has the heraldic title out of Rishi Sunak and Kier Starmer?

It's time to plant your flag in the ground, my friend, if you're going to pass judgment on political parties so that at least we know where your allegiance lies. 🙂

@dick_turpin How many times have I told you that I'm not a Labour member? Never have been. With the system we have it is a choice between these two parties and I see Labour as the better option given how broken the Tories are. Farage has forced them to veer right and I see that as dangerous. I may well be paying slightly less in 'tax', but a lot of people are worse off.
I really don't give a shit about who is a 'Sir', but I bet a few Tories are miffed that Starmer is one.

See, it's a clever stance to say what one is not habitually; it's designed so that the individual can't be pinned down a bit like those who sit on the fence so that no shit splatters on them while they pass judgment on others.

I have yet to see you say anything positive or negative about Labour, Lib Dems, Greens, etc. I have seen you state unease about RefomUK, but I get the feeling that it's just Farage-related rather than any ReformUK policy offerings. Then again, I could be wrong about that because of your "I'm not" stance. 🤣

@dick_turpin What real policies do Reform have? They are a one man operation to disrupt the system.
Labour definitely have issues with internal division. They have given up on some of their principles. but so have other parties.
I would probably be most in favour of the Greens on environmental issues, but may differ with them on other matters.
Lib Dems seem like the compromise party, but they lost a lot of trust by going in with the Tories. Maybe they will recover a bit this time.

@dick_turpin Very few people are party members these days and most will vote in their own interest. It can be hard to see who will deliver on that. FPTP may mean our votes don't really count, so we have to compromise.

I don't feel I have to swear allegiance to any one party, but we can judge the Tories on their record.

I am in favour of a fairer society where everyone gets a fair chance. Nobody should be struggling to feed their kids when we have lots of billionaires and CEOs paid millions.

@steevc See, again. That's not strictly true. Yes, Farage was associated with them, but he wasn't running the party. I know he is now, and he may well have helped write the manifesto, but I will say from people I've spoken to, including business owners, their policies are striking a cord.
