Any good sources for a very quick but efficient intro to #Icelandic? It’s not on #Duolingo 😭
(Context: going there for holidays)
@elduvelle #uTalk has Icelandic!
@moani Never heard of it, but it looks nice, have you used it?
@elduvelle I’m using it for Hawaiian! It took me some getting used to since it’s a different approach than Duolingo. And I think the introductory unit exercises were an odd set. But once I got used to it, I find it very helpful. AND I worked through quite a lot for free!
@moani sounds good… in any case better than the book I got.. how do you get a free trial?
@elduvelle as far as I remember, I just downloaded #uTalk and the free trial just started, it was easy. At first you just get the one intro pack, but as you start using it, it gives you “uCoins” for different accomplishments, and you can use those uCoins to buy quite a few more packs. I used it for free for at least six months before I finally tossed it a little extra money to get some more packs. But the greatest thing is there are NO ADS in the free trial!
@elduvelle I use iPhone and who knows if it’s the same on Android.
One of the ways it’s different from Duolingo is that you pick the topics that you want to study… So if you’re going to be a tourist in Iceland, you could pick more tourist-oriented packs to learn the vocabulary and phrases for. If you’re going to be a humanitarian aid worker, I kid you not, they have packs for that too.
