Entirely safe and reasonable way to remove an #emfcamp wristband without damaging it
Hail the Vice of Knowledge and the Screwdriver of Leverage!
@philpem Was great to meet you Phil. Now I feel bad for just cutting mine off
@m0zah Great meeting you too! If it makes you feel any better, I only knew this trick because I watch Deviant Ollam's Youtube videos and talks on tampering with "tamperproof" devices. He did a video on how to save festival wristbands.
@philpem Oh, that would have been sensible! I ended up giving up on the screwdriver approach - wasn't getting anywhere like enough leverage - and just took a junior hacksaw to it and peeled the crimp apart that way.
@philpem Next year they should let you print little Demon-Core covers for the tab, to add to the fun when removing it this way
(and it feels this would be on-brand for this year) 😉

@philpem If it were the kind with a plastic snap that goes through one of several holes, I've found an entirely safety regulation unapproved way of messing with the bendable pieces of the plastic snap with the tip of a blade like that utility knife until it's willing to just pop loose without any visible damage.

Oddly I haven't encountered that metal crimp type anywhere to date

@philpem Is that screwdriver from a magazine set from about 20 or so years ago..? I have the same one! (real robots or something)
@philpem I got lucky and had just about enough slack to take mine off with a small amount of discomfort and not having to dislocate any joints
