Any websites to help me find the genre of a song? - Music - kbin.run

If I just look up "what genre is _____" it'll be very broad like "edm" or "pop" but I'd like to know if this is house or techno or d&b etc so I can start narrowing down my tastes...

Give www.music-map.com a shot. Good luck.
Music-Map - Find Similar Music

Music-Map is the similar music finder that helps you find similar bands and artists to the ones you love.

Wow, that looks fantastic. I had the same issue as OP but maybe your site is even better!
this just gives similar artists tho no? cool, but not really what I'm lookin for
If it’s a well-known artist, looking them up on Wikipedia is a good way to get an idea what genre they make. A website that does this for all songs individually would probably be AI-powered and wrong most of the time.
Pandora is actually really good at this because of the music genome project and the fact their parent company is SiriusXM

Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music

  • Find out which release (album/EP/whatever) the song is originally from.
  • Search for the release on RYM. The RYM page of the release includes the genres of the release (and often a lot of more information).
  • yes this is it. thank you!

    I like everynoise for this.

It’s got (essentially) every genre plotted, “in general down is more organic, up is more mechanical and electric; left is denser and more atmospheric, right is spikier and bouncier.” You can search for a specific artist and see what genres they fit, and how other artists compare. Really handy for finding new music.
