Many yearn for the “good old days” of the web. We could have those good old days back — or something even better — and if anything, it would be easier now than it ever was.

I think a lot of these silos profit from the artificial scarcity of IP addresses in IPv4, and refuse to support IPv6 because it would allow everyone to run their own servers without having to be rich.
