So I guess that works out to a net zero. The poster sessions at #lrec_coling2024 were fantastic, because they were in a humongous hall (think aircraft hangar) and there was enough space around each poster.

They’ve ruined it all again by deciding to have (terrible, but that’s not the problem) life music at both social events, turning them into decidedly non-social event (and, thanks to the terrible acoustics, health hazards).

@davidschlangen I agree that the music at the “social” events was way too loud and made socializing impossible but I didn’t think it cancelled out the nice spacious poster sessions!

@amyisard Ok, you’re right, that is too harsh, given that there were many more poster sessions than just two. But I did find it disappointing that it was next to impossible to talk to people — and especially new people — at these events.
