@anneapplebaum You know, I remember back in 2014 when Gamergate happened, I remember telling a friend that this group of disaffected young men, and especially men (and women) in a lower SES than they'd been raised, were fodder for some ronin demagogue to come along and scoop up.

At the time I'd assumed no one would be so dumb and reckless. Also, Orwell explained how the middle class uses the proles to unseat the Upper class, etc, and these were the rabble, not the gentry.
