The Optimist returns…

Finally available for everybody to view after years forgotten in a lock-up, a quirky Channel 4 sitcom comes to Rewind TV

Transdiffusion
@transdiffusion Blimey. Enn Reitel. If I saw this it's beening forgotten.
@emsquared The early days of Channel 4 were so... wild... that we reckon it's impossible for any one person to remember more than 25% of what they watched of the network's output!
@transdiffusion Ha. I loved the early years. Remember watching the first evening with Ian McKellen's Walter, The Comic Strip presents and the later gems of that weird cartoon Barun Munchwitsit (can never remember the name) etc. Isn't there another Enn Reitel sitcom (speaking) that didn't work too? (not Channel 4)
@emsquared He was a player in the BBC's distinctly odd 'Kelly Monteith' sketch show around that time. And he was the star of – sitcom? comedy drama? – 'The New Adventures of Lucky Jim', again for the BBC, which was also downright weird.
@transdiffusion Jesus. Kelly Monteith. Christ on a hovercraft you're playing shove halfpenny with long forgotten names now.. Yes. The New adventures of lucky Jim. That's the one. And that had good writers too. Great voice career for Enn obviously. Telly and film didn't quite know what to do with him.
@emsquared @transdiffusion Murun Buchstansanger - now we’re talking👍
@antjbro @transdiffusion That's the one. It was my kind of weird that one.
