@JohnBrady @dwalbert @jabel This is remarkably true. And you’re all definitely hitting the nail. There may not be one word for it, but the closest thing might be “attention,” and in various forms. Sitting down with a paper copy of collected articles on different topics of an overarching theme, and doing this multiple times with the same copy on your kitchen table — it’s like the difference between reading a book through in a normal-for-you amount of time and reading a book by picking random chapters to read (or skim) at random times throughout the year…on your Kindle. The latter is, uh, very not immersive. On top of this, it’s a paper copy that will not be a magic 8-ball rectangle of blog articles but will only ever be a paper copy of [CoEvolution Quarterly].
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to finish my lunch break with my paper copy of The New Atlantis 🤓
