On my way to Scotland on two wheels! Somewhat extemporaneous, but gotta make the most out of the gorgeous weather while you have it.
Day 2 complete! Did some 360 (or so) miles with about seven hours on the saddle. Feels good now having the tent down and just taking it easy for the rest of the evening.
Day 3 started out brilliantly with lots of interesting roads and some stunning vistas to enjoy. The narrow single-lane roads were sometimes pretty tricky with traffic, but it wasn't too bad all in all - probably thanks in part to it still being somewhat early in the season.
Things didn't entirely go according to plan, though as a yellow weather warning rolled in for heavy rain and thunderstorms. I made the call to drop the very last part of the route and hightail it back south and inland where I would be spared from the worst of it.
I tried to look for a camping spot somewhere along the way, but with the weather slowly turning worse and it starting to get dark I came to the conclusion that I might as well just try and ride all the way home. In the end that resulted in just over 1000 km covered in a day.
I arrived back home some minutes before 1 AM on Monday. I was tired and cold, but ultimately quite happy. It was a good trip.
