servusdei@jsit interesting idea, $0.49 seems a lot to me though, I would be 3x more likely if it was more like $0.05 or $0.10
samf@jsit I am constantly baffled that true micro-transactions haven’t taken off on the web yet. I’d love to pay a cent or two for (smaller) online content.

1. the credit card companies have no incentive to support this.
2. without credit card companies help we need some indie site that's like "pay us $5 a month and we'll divide it amongst the sites you visit" BUT that requires all the sites you visit to set up accounts with them and claim their sites.

@samf @jsit that, and similar ideas, has been tried multiple times and EVERY time it fails because the the creator's don't know there's money there & even if they DID go through the effort it's not worth the 6¢ a month it MAY bring them, because you ALSO need all the readers to sign up for it too...
If CC companies would support this EVERYONE would have an account already & signing up with VISA would be worth it for creators.

Cooter@jsit Just jumping in too add: I voted "a couple times a month", but that would go down to "a couple times a year" or "never" for sites that carry ads that make their pages unreadable; conversely, sites that only carry ads that allow me to read their content would get hit a couple times a week
