So I still occasionally try and play the Forza Horizon games because I own them, but inevitably when I do, I become angry at Microsoft because I was heavily into one of them when I was laid off. Plus, now all the little things I used to ignore (why do the only Forza Horizon games available have you ruining shit in Scotland and Mexico, places that have experienced... look, the developers are English, why are we not beating up Stonehenge or London, huh? Also, who programmed the animals to jump out in front of you in the middle of scripted race events?! Are we supposed to want to hit the animals? What the fuck is wrong with you?!)

... anyway uhhhh yeah, so, I need some new racing games with decent physics that scratch that urge to fuck around with mechanical stuff and feel nice and weighty and let me swap out parts and do stupid shit 😅 gotta be PC as well. Any suggestions? Controller please! I don't have a racing wheel.

@aud animals jumping out in front is fucking insane and is more circumstantial evidence for my theory that many racing games like need for speed are developed partially as propaganda machines for cars and cops oops

@hipsterelectron yeah, I didn't talk about it but that's actually why I bounce off all the NFS games. I just... don't want to play a game with cops as a central part of it.

@aud carbon has zero cops except as bad guys and you get to play as car gangs and the mechanics are more difficult but imo more fun once you get the hang of it. i think i tooted a while ago how mad i got realizing that half of hot pursuit is literally cop missions lmao

@hipsterelectron booooooooo to cop missions (wait, as in involving cops or forcing you to play as a cop? because that's even worse) I'll check out Carbon! Car gangs sound fucking awesome and I'm here for more difficult mechanics in a racing game

in an alternate universe somewhere, I am currently covered in grease and fixing an engine. It could have gone that way.

@aud cop missions meaning you literally drive a cop car i absolutely refused to do any of them (which luckily it does allow you to do but YUCK and the mechanics are ok but carbon is really fucking cool imo) it made me realize the copaganda in undercover was absolutely not a mistake

@aud also voice acting and CGI in carbon cutscenes is awesome and you interact with many nonwhite characters who aren't just copaganda memes like in undercover with some actual character development which to me just feels nice to see

@hipsterelectron I also enrolled as a mech engineer!! I can't stand the smell of gasoline though 😅 did put a wee damper on things.
