Seeing the new apple ad (propaganda?) has reminded me of how much I dislike the destruction of musical instruments.

And it's also given me a good way to describe why I don't like copy protection in music software: the only thing stopping your creative tools from being crushed is a poorly-maintained licensing server that won't exist in 5 years.

@nakst it's obviously not meant that way (techbros be like yea look how much stuff you can put in an ipad) but the whole vibe of that ad is dystopian and off-putting, like "buy our overpriced and unreliable piece of tech that will be entirely obsolete and/or in landfill in 15 years' time instead of investing in something that would've most likely lasted you a lifetime" energy
