Bought a lego set from a thrift shop the other day. It was a big expensive set that was half price but didn't come with the box, all the pieces were in a tote. Of course, when I got it home I started counting the pieces to make sure nothing was missing.

The first piece I started counting I found all of them and an extra. Then another. Then another. Until 100 pieces became 200. Lucky me!

I got 2 big expensive lego sets for the price of half of one! Nothing is missing so far, so very good find.

I'm never buying a set with loose pieces again because that was painful to sort. You can tell I started to give up the father to the right I went. But I sorted it! And, by my count, I'm only missing a single piece. But it's a small one so it might just be hiding somewhere.

Now I need to get another table because I don't have enough room to build anymore.

I got half way through making this pyramid but then the Egyptians took over and they look like they're having fun so I'm gonna let them finish it

First one is finished.

I already have some ideas on how to combine the two sets. Lego already put in some cross holes in the back for you to connect two of them. But I don't think I'm going to make an exact copy to stick on the back and call it a day.

I think I'm going to make the river wider instead of just having a river on each side. I'm also going to mirror the interior so that it lines up when the two halves are together.

I'm so happy I ended up with two of them. It'll be beautiful.

I have "finished" both sets now. More like combined them into one massive set. I used probably 3/4 of the second set to augment the first one and I am very happy with how everything turned out. I'm not a master builder or anything, its been over a decade since I tried to make something using my own creativity, but I'm proud of myself for making something that looks halfway decent.

Behold, The Great Pyramid of Giza.

Here's a few things I changed:

I made the river wider and added a shore on the opposite side. I put a dock on this shore that one of the large ships is stopped at. I put in some cargo cranes near it too.

I put a couple buildings on the shore too, along with plenty of foliage. I also threw in two very small pyramids just for fun.

I had the path leading to the main pyramid have sphinxes on both sides. I also added another pyramid, and put a courtyard around the obelisk.

I moved the exterior entrance to the right side of the pyramid so it lines up with the interior entrance. I also put the extra plaque on that side, and made the dunes line up better on either side.

On the back I put a small area with some foliage with some buildings. I made a little pillar thing to add some contrast. I also added a plaque back there.

I mirrored the interior on the other half so it lines up correctly. I'm using the red crossbars that come with the set to connect the two halves.

Instead of putting another sarcophagus inside, I replaced it with the extra golden statue. I had to make the ceiling higher to accommodate it.

I didn't mirror the construction scene. This made mirroring the interior more difficult than I thought it'd be.

Instead of having both ramps carry up the gold capstone, I had the other one carrying up a white limestone block. I also removed one of the cranes because the one piece I was missing was part of the crane.

@EdictZeus217 excellent job on the whole thing, especially the tranquil Nile River scene.
@buru5 thank you! The opposing shore is where I started to run out of extra pieces so I was worried it was too incohesive, but I'm happy with how the whole river scene turned out 😃
