Barron Trump declines to serve as an RNC delegate - Lemmy.World

Former President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, has declined to serve as a delegate at this summer’s Republican National Convention [https://www.cnn.com/2024/04/27/politics/rnc-secret-service-republicans-convention-milwaukee/index.html], according to a senior Trump campaign adviser and a statement from Melania Trump’s office. “While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines due to prior commitments,” the statement from the former first lady’s office said. Barron Trump, who turned 18 in March, had been selected [https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/09/politics/barron-trump-delegate-republican-national-convention/index.html] by the Florida GOP to serve as an at-large delegate at the July convention. Several other Trump family members – including Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Tiffany Trump – were also selected as delegates.

I wonder if this is a sign that the apple perhaps did fall a bit further than expected from the tree… but at this point, it’s far too soon to tell.

Honestly, despite the fact that I think his father may be one of the worst people living in this country at the moment, I’m willing to give the kid the benefit of the doubt. Kellyanne Conway’s daughter, after all, delights in fucking with her mom, and actually seems to have her head on straight. The same thing could happen here. The way his parents are PRing this kinda smells like they’re entirely handling his media exposure. Sure, it could be true and it was just a conflict. But it could also have just been him outright refusing, and them spinning a yarn to save face. Time will tell, I suppose.

Does he use social media? I feel like I’ve never heard or seen a peep from him.
I think that’s extremely intentional
