Trump reportedly hopes to increase his share of the Black vote this time around...
We shall see about that.

But Trump knows from experience that it’s enough for him if Black voters sit on their hands.

Or if we show up at the ballot box, only to skip Joe Biden’s name.

That why recent polls should make him smile.

My fear is that history might repeat itself.

Volumes were written in the months leading up to Election Day 2016 about the dangers of a Trump presidency.

I warned in a Sept. 30, 2016, column, “Install a Trump White House and say farewell to civil liberties, voting rights, consumer rights and reproductive rights, and hail gun supremacy.”

Those words either fell on deaf ears or were wasted on closed minds.

At any rate, the prospect of a Trump victory wasn’t enough to drive Black people to the polls.

As a result, Trump gained the White House and appointed three justices .... to build a conservative Supreme Court majority that has had its way with the Constitution.
