It's weird to me when people think "layoffs = company struggling financially." Like watching a video about Microsoft that says that they must be struggling because they're laying people off.

No, layoffs are a way to inflate stock price. It is sacrificing lives on the altar of the stock market because investors see getting rid of people as positive for some reason.

@athousandcateaus Yeah, it's nothing more than the no-brain CEO's and corporate wigs excitedly pointing out to their stockholders that, "Number go UP, seeEeEeEe!"

In reality if they had kept, say, Arkane, and refocused them into producing another Prey or Dishonored (or similar), then they would have seen massive payoffs over the short term gains from laying off entire studios.

The ONLY bright side, is that now those employees have the opportunity to NOT work for a big corpo like Xbox or Bethesda
