@jillian on GeFN specifically, yes.

If you have a subscription to the service and a Deck, that would be the easiest way to run it - second easiest (nerd-type) being a microSD with Win10/Win11 and a USB with the game.

@root i've been doing that too! i forget when it started working but it's been a few months at least. mostly i use gfn on my macbook tho.

Well uh, until recently (even with my testing) GeFN wasn't letting Linux users play Genshin.

Which uh. Technically, since 3.8 Bottleland, you don't need GeFN. The game just works, no patch, nuffin.

The easy way to install it on Linux/Deck is Heroic+EGS.

Okay so I'm going to go SUPER pedantic nerd idiot on this.

TECHNICALLY? It "works", in that you CAN run the installer and it CAN install cleanly into the Proton directory structure.

IN PRACTICE? Honkai Star Rail *does not* run on SteamOS (Linux) unpatched. You *need* to use jadeite, which will make you run afoul of the ToS unless Hoyo explicitely says all is good.

This is why I have a microSD with Win11 and a USB drive with HSR, so I can run SUs on the treadmill :P

@NUDELMOB (I already bought out the cash shop once last year, and only the 100$ remains this year; I also buy the express each month, and may have been dumb enough to buy the standard BP as well. For those reasons, since I got banned once, I kinda don't want to risk it.)

@NUDELMOB yeah i haven't tried hsr. haven't heard anything lately about things changing, but if you're worried about it i wouldn't try for now just to be safe.

@NUDELMOB to be very clear about the state of things: while it cannot be said to be 100% fine, there have been *no bans* (that we know of) since the 1.0 ban wave and the rework into the Jadeite that exists now.

Not saying it's safe. I'm just pointing out others have been fine all this time.
