Israeli government votes to shut down Al Jazeera
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports that the Israeli government has voted unanimously to shut down Al Jazeera in Israel.
The news agency Reuters also reports that the Israeli cabinet has decided to close down Al Jazeera’s operations.
UPDATE:
Israel Association for Civil Rights has submitted to the Israel High Court a request for an interim order to delay the government’s decision to close #AlJazeera.
The association says the ban – which it labelled the “Al Jazeera law” – violates freedom of expression, the right to information and freedom of the press, and blocks citizens and residents from receiving a variety of information that does not fit the Israeli narrative or is not broadcast on Israeli media channels.

The equipment was taken during a raid on Al Jazeera’s office in occupied East Jerusalem.
