Helldivers 2 community manager says internal discussions are ongoing regarding mandatory PSN account link
The last screenshot is the most important one to pay attention to.
(Apologizing in advance, a bit of a rant incoming…)
People can’t just bitch about it on an online forum and then do nothing after that, that doesn’t solve anything. You have to be proactive, you have to get off your ass, if you truly want change and to be treated respectfully as a customer. Otherwise, you get what you deserve.
They know the standard M.O. of a gamer, its to complain but then do nothing, and they take advantage of that.
Edit: And I’m talking especially to those who are downvoting my comment. Just bitching and downvoting does’t change/fix anything.
He’s right guys. Get off your *sses and pitch a tent in the grassy area of your local university. Show Sony you’re not going to put up with this!

That sarcasm doesn’t help solve anything.
Edit: Neither does downvoting.
Here’s the thing: doing something does not always work, but doing nothing never does.
In the provided screenshot, the devs themselves explain that asking for refunds and leaving bad reviews is what gives them enough pull to even have the discussion with sony.
Of course you don’t have to do anything, but you really don’t accomplish anything by bothering the people who actually try to find ways to make the situation better.
What is the Anti Commercial-Al license and why do people keep adding it to their comments?
You’re a little late to the party. Also, better to read it from here: What is the Anti Commercial-Al license and why do people keep adding it to their comments?
Thanks.

Thanks.

You’re welcome.
Still on what hill? I just got here.
And how many people on this site add nothing to an original discussion (I’d say at least half).
Thanks though!
Some people are saying they were aware of the requirements before launch and didn’t adequately inform customers.
I’m unsure how true that is, but it’s huge news if it is true.
I’ve had my eye on Helldiver’s 2, but I’m not creating a PSN account.
I know my $40.00 is pretty important to them, so I thought I would mention it here.
Nobody is locked out. Nothing has as yet changed.
The Steam page has said “PSN account required” since day one. Anyone opposed to creating a PSN account on moral grounds and bought HD2 has no one to blame but themselves.
Wrong. Numerous players are in countries where PSN is unavailable. Before the account was made mandatory, the game was perfectly playable on PC for them. Now it isn’t.
Also wrong. It was only made mandatory recently on PC.
Maybe do a modicum of research before you act like you know what you’re talking about.

Not gonna lie chief, I don’t think anyone from SIE is on Lemmy.
Lol. Yeah.
Sorry, I left off the /s there.
The plot changes?
In any event, I can definitely binge something even if the plot changes. The core gameplay likely will remain the same.
Yes, you still shoot bugs and robots.
But the planets that are available- and by extension the missions - change all the time. You can’t just mainline the game for 150 hours in a week and experience all of it.
Most of the people complaining about the lack of variance in gameplay are the ones playing 12 hours a day constantly.
It's not really a new anti cheat though.
nProtect Gameguard (the one they use) is probably one of the few that supports the engine Helldivers uses (Autodesk Stingray/Bitsquid)
It’s not on the physical box, so yes.
The only bit that said you needed it, appears to be the card included in the box.
It’s OK. I do miss the Steam sales actually being worthwhile. They used to be really good, where now I mostly use Steam for games bought elsewhere.
I miss ownership. At least I own my Playstation discs. I can trade them with others when I’m done with them. I can still buy games that have been delisted from digital stores.
Can you say the same about your PC games?
+1 to steam sales being more worthwhile back then. I 1000% understand the ownership thing. I don’t think most people had to consider what digital purchases really could mean until Sony pulled purchased content out of people’s libraries.
I personally don’t think Steam is comparable to Sony apart from digital purchases. Steam or Valve aren’t beholden to large share holders because they aren’t publicly traded, I don’t think they’ll have the same objectives as Sony and prioritize their users instead of public shareholders.
Sony took some headlines for doing it, but there’s loads of stuff disappeared from the Google Play store and I never saw anybody complaining about them.
Rayman Jungle Run and Fiesta Run are two (single player) games I paid for and they’ve vanished. I mean, it’s only a couple of quid, but that doesn’t make it OK.
At least Steam continue to host stuff, even if they’re not allowed to sell it.
