@paddydoublems yeah I cannot listen to commercial radio lol. It's painful to me!! Here's the rest of my Record Store Day purchases this year! An eclectic bunch. Have to say, Zappa and Beefheart are for my partner.
@intheseheels My three favorite stations here are WXRV and WERS in Boston and KEXP in Seattle. I've had a couple of shout outs on there. I remember when Sinead O Connor died. They played her music for hours. A lot of Indie stations did. She was bigger on there than on commercial radio since they would just play "Nothing Compares 2 U", but she had an amazing catalogue of music.
@paddydoublems I'm Irish, and actually know the man who ordained Sinéad. She is a massive loss, to the world. We have planet rock over here, and the djs are often rock stars themselves. Duff McKagan from GnR, Danny Bowes from Thunder, Joe Elliot Def Lep, and until recently, played an Alice Cooper late night show, but I believe this was just recorded and broadcast in several stations.
Gotta say, Danny is my favourite. So unpretentious and has sooo many fun stories.
@intheseheels That's pretty cool. I could relate to Sinead since I battle mental health issues as she did. So I was sad. I'm just glad it wasn't a suicide. That week for #NightFlightFriday, I put together a tribute for her. A concert from 2002 in Dublin, followed by two clips of her from David Letterman and then a concert from 2013 in the Netherlands.
