How Counterprotesters at U.C.L.A. Provoked Violence, Unchecked for Hours

The New York Times used videos filmed by journalists, witnesses and protesters to analyze hours of clashes — and a delayed police response — at a pro-Palestinian encampment on Tuesday.

The New York Times
@jeffjarvis Wow. Didn't see this coming. Hope?
@jeffjarvis the Times' reporting is exactly what the clips shown Weds morning looked to me. To my astonishment the news narrative instead blamed the protesters and would inevitably wrap with a single student expressing an undefined fear, for balance.
@jeffjarvis It was good but The Guardian had that story on Thursday morning instead of Saturday.
@jeffjarvis
Aaaaand no one is surprised that the cops and security did fuck all.

@jeffjarvis People may not know this, but LA is home to the Aryan Brotherhood street gang which is composed of neo-Nazis. Now, you'd think they'd be anti Jew but in reality they are right wing extremists and white supremicists and side with Israel.

They are also violent and lack ethics. They are probably responsible for this violence.
