This is great news!! Completely free apps no longer pay the CTF, and developers making less than €10M/yr (basically all indie devs) now have a 3 year buffer before CTF bills kick in — giving them time to adjust if any of their apps do end up getting over a million downloads

This is a great step forward, and most importantly means indies can try out alternative marketplaces like AltStore without fear of immediately bankrupting themselves 🙏 https://www.macrumors.com/2024/05/02/apple-updates-core-technology-fee-eu/

Apple Tweaks EU Core Technology Fee to Avoid Bankrupting Unexpectedly Viral Apps

@rileytestut sorry if this isn't a good place to ask but will altstore pal have the feature of uploading ipa files or will they have to be put on a server
@atom unfortunately not, all apps have to be notarized by Apple to be installed with PAL. Regular AltStore is still only way to sideload .ipa’s directly :/
@rileytestut @atom so you still have to be a member of the Apple Developer Program aka pay 100€/year
@mxmlndml @rileytestut @atom If you’re okay with resigning every week, you don’t have to be a part of the paid developer program.
@AwesumIndustrys @mxmlndml @rileytestut you won't have to resign every week with the new european altstore
@rileytestut @atom @mxmlndml AltStore PAL doesn’t support direct side loading so you’d have to use the normal AltStore to do that, which means resigning every week (or, iirc, every year if you pay for the dev program)
@rileytestut wait if all apps have to be notarized by apple does that mean that modded apps won't be available for installation
