Today I wrote a post about my daughter, and I think it’s one of the good ones. https://a.wholelottanothing.org/may-2nd/
Dear Fiona…

The thing I remember most about your first few days on this planet was the anxiety. The actual birth was an ordeal in and of itself, but barely 24 hours later nurses were shoving us out of the hospital, giving two young adults with the least amount of experience around

A Whole Lotta Nothing
@mathowie My oldest is 3 years behind yours but as I read it I kept wishing for all of it to slow down and not go by so fast. 🥲

@mathowie "burp cloths" followed by "I love you with all my heart Fiona, more than anything or anyone in the world" had me in tears

lovely story, Matt, thank you

@mathowie it is a really good one.
(And coincidentally, my son will be a junior at UP next year. It’s been a great experience for him - he gets back from his semester in Salzburg next week)
@mrakes oh awesome, I hope my own takes advantage of the time abroad programs too, those looked pretty solid and fun.
@mathowie happy to offer up the kid as a resource. He went to Salzburg, but one of his roommates went to Galway, Ireland.
@mathowie thanks for the tears… we’re 10 years behind you and it ain’t easy right now… I know we’re not alone in that, but doesn’t make it easier. Job well done to you and your wife, job well done.
@mathowie That was beautiful, Matt. Thank you for sharing. Especially poignant now as our daughter turns four soon, with a whole world opening up in front of her.
@mathowie Great post and one for the ages. Thank you for sharing this and getting me weeping up in here.
@mathowie ❤️ Thank you for sharing!
