#KilledByPolice - Remembering musical prodigy Herman Whitfield III: After calling for an ambulance to help her son deal with a mental crisis, 6 Indianapolis Police officers showed up & killed Herman Whitfield III by electrocuting & suffocating him to death face down for more than 5 minutes.

Two years ago in April, while experiencing a crisis Herman III was naked, unarmed & not threatening anyone when, instead of medical personnel, police showed up to his mother's house.

I went to college with Herman. He was an amazing person. Less obvious than his amazing piano-playing, he also had a beautiful voice and I would often catch him walking through campus with two friends singing together, snapping fingers, and laughing.

I was devastated to learn of his death the following summer.
