The missing piece in the salary cap is the need to grow the game. Clubs that grow their fan base, through bums on seats or eyeballs on screens, should be allowed to increase their player base.

The real travesty of the Saracens salary cap fiasco was the club did little to boost their attendances despite all those great players.
