migrating #VRChat worlds to Unity 2022 is safe and fun for the entire family! /sarcasm

I was going through my usual debug method of "rebuilding" the world step by step via prefabs to find what broke. Turns out it was literally just ONE shader that broke the scene.

Deleted and reinstalled it (even though I swear I already did it once before), and it works again with few tweaks needed. It also helps that the world has a quote unquote "test suite" (sets from its debut event) I can debug with.

My main motivation to update was the latest version of VRSL, which now requires Unity 2022. Alongside some other things (automatic exporting of patch sheets? Oooh!), it also has an important accessibility improvement.

You can't always go to an IRL concert and ask them to not use strobes. Minor things like this is something all VRChat creators should think about.

In comparison to its spiritual predecessors from new years long ago, it is WAY better under the hood in terms of environmental lighting, fewer rookie mistakes, and stage show capabilities. It's always thrilling to have users in your world for the first time, and there's something about the end of the year that's the most thrilling time to unveil something new.
