She was there on her own dime, attempting a diplomatic effort to get Russia to curb its violent tactics. Contrary to mainstream belief in America, this has greater potential to bring about actual peace than funding a proxy war in Ukraine. The fact she actually managed to be seated with Putin long enough for this picture to be taken is a testament to her legitimacy as a leader, and as a diplomat.
