So either you live with their actions (which tend to become increasingly vile with any degree of success) or you fight them tooth and nail. History suggests there is no middle ground.

War crimes are committed by military forces. Civilians resisting an occupying military force, even by extreme means, are not committing war crimes, because they are not subject to military law in any way.

They might be committing crimes according to the laws of their own country, but that's a separate question.

If I punch one of my own country's nazi sympathisers that's assault. If I melt an invading nazi's face with white phosphorus, it's self defence. No harm no foul.
