@arstechnica It's great to see so much progress in renewables, but I think ditching nuclear was a mistake. Until we have reliable grid-scale storage, renewables will always need to be backed by something else, and at the moment the only non-carbon emitting option is nuclear (unless you have the right geography for hydro or geothermal)

The problem with nuclear is it's "baseload" so it's not good for backing up renewables.
I agree that storage is a big issue.
