Yesterday I got laid off from Google. Today they announced earnings and are doing great. This company has no reason to tighten its belt other than to enrich shareholders (which are mainly the executives and the board).

a gentle reminder to you and anybody in your same situation:

whether you need the money or not, go get your unemployment benefits. laid-off tech workers need to start demanding every single penny they've given to their companies & the state. demand your 401k, the balance of your accumulated health & vacation days, any health accounts.

That's what corporations do now, it's all about feeding the filty rich and the stock price.

Instead of making good products, they cut workers and buy back stock until the company slowly crumbles.

Let’s be fair…it costs to pay the CEO 220m per year.
@bswolf So many lay-offs, Is nobody going to sue them back ? Unionize already, the rest of us.
@bswolf When I was with Oracle, they’d say there was no money for raises but then proudly announce share price increases or improvements in profit margins.

condolences & solidarity from Tacoma
Happy hunting!

@bswolf I'm sorry that happened to you. I was laid off from Google in the very first round of layoffs January last year. You might find it helpful to join the Xoogler.co community on Slack. I hope you can take some time off to process and heal from this.

@bswolf

Sorry to hear man, hope everything works out.

@bswolf damn, I’m sorry :(
