A transcript of #NaomiKlein's speech at the Seder in the Streets in front of Senator Schumer's house in New York City. 👇

This thread is the whole speech because, well, it's that important -- Klein went out in public and claimed a path for US Jewish futures that is in coalition with those harmed by Zionism, but that is also deeply nested within Judaism as a multi-millennial tradition. We're lucky to live and breathe at the same time as Naomi Klein...

We need an exodus from Zionism

This Passover, we don’t need or want the false idol of Zionism. We want freedom from the project that commits genocide in our name

@seachanger As far as I understand, Zionism also includes the promise to have a safe place for Jews to go when things get ugly elsewhere. If Naomi Klein calls this a false idol, she may be right, but giving up Zionism looks like a risky bet to me.
@seachanger this is soaring oratory, devout theology and epic rallying cry all
@seachanger Thanks for the transcribe. Great journalism but even if one subscribes you still get bombarded with ads. But that’s just me whining.

@seachanger

The older I get, the wiser I find Naomi Klein. Her words speak to the views of my Jewish friends and previous colleagues and take them to the conclusion they were afraid to say. The bravery that Klein has shown in posting this article is incredible as I don’t doubt there will be those that vehemently disagree with her. But to those like myself who are not Jewish, it’s vital that we acknowledge that not all Jews are Zionist and comprehend what that means in practice.

@seachanger When Naomi Klein speaks, I listen.

@seachanger May many embrace that viewpoint.
@seachanger This is a stunning speech. Sometimes I wish I was a Jew so I could reject Zionism as loudly, (if I had the courage). as it is I just watch and cheer.
