@curtisysmith
I'm curious if there's any incidents in history of student movements on the side of the ruling class.
@katanova Someone on another platform mentioned the 1979 Iranian student movement that led to the Ayatollahs and the Chinese cultural revolution. Also the protests by white students against desegregating schools in the US south.

@curtisysmith
The Chinese cultural revolution is kind of... alright, i'm not super competent on my Chinese history, but I thought the communist party wasn't in power yet at the time of the Chinese cultural revolution?

Or wait, no, that's wrong, the communist party instigated the cultural revolution, and basically wrecked the whole country's existing culture.

@katanova @curtisysmith In pre-Hitler southern Germany, there were loud communist students, but also very vocal would-be Nazis. Looking at how the resulting regimes on both sides of the spectrum worked out for Europe and Russia, I also think this quote needs to be constrained a bit more :)
@ctietze I agree that this statement is too absolute in nature. I never like absolutes
@curtisysmith not so Shure about that. In the history of the country I live in Students burnt books, and just years later that country decided to burn people aswell… don’t know if you heard about that…
@curtisysmith do you know what students supported in the 1930s in Germany? Here are some of them at a book burning.
