Meanwhile: Every project I'm involved in currently touching AI, the first question I ask is "Why?" And the next one is "Have you done a business impact and risk assessment?"
If they haven't thought of the ethical implications of the tool it's a no-go.

Racism definitely does exist.
Whether it is intentional or not; the effect on the victims is the same.
People should be more careful with what they say and do.

I used to take the time to teach them or help them understand, but they kept sliding back. So now, very selectively, I might find someone I deem worthy to invest my time.
