oh weird I just looked at it from phtn.app and I see it is indeed a tag. it doesn’t show at clickable from the web view… I guess I need to spend more time understanding how the different front ends actually work

You did tag indeed, in the sense of just looking at the plain text of your post but it appears that Lemmy has not fully implemented all. Maybe indeed different front-ends having different implementations.
it works fine in Photon, so it seems like its just a lemmy web front end issue. I didn’t realize till I looked in this other client that it worked
MentalEdgeLemmy doesn’t support mentions in post bodies yet. Only comments.
