@julia I've spent like a year or more now yelling about how subtle is the opposite of the goal in UI design and it doesn't seem to make much difference.

@alilly @julia Nobody understands UI design, or even user experience. They want to make it an art piece and when it's a utility.

@bryan @julia I have also said at one point that software should never be an experience, because if you are experiencing the software instead of the task that means the software is getting in the way or distracting you or both. The ideal user experience, IMO, is one where the software disappears entirely.

@alilly @bryan @julia A good point, but there are times when using a finely crafted tool can make a task more pleasant. I suppose “finely crafted” and “software” may not have much overlap though. 🙂
