Difficult to explain to The Kids These Days that in the 20th Century, we did not, in fact, take dozens of pictures a day of every little thing, because it was a pain in the ass, and not cheap to have the photos developed (and development could take days or weeks). There have been days here in the 21st century in which I have taken more pictures than I ever had in my life before January 1, 2000 (or 2001, if you're being persnickety about dates).

@jscalzi god this is so true… I was quite an early adopter when it came to digital cameras but even then the memory cards were tiny! (I remember “upgrading” from an 8mb card to a whopping 32gb - I ended up with about six cards in my camera bag!).

Even then, those first years I have at most a couple of hundred photos in my library. Whereas I easily take a couple of thousand a year now (more when combined with my wife who I share a library with).
